Philosophy
My consulting philosophy is that it is better for a firm to reach its own conclusions about its legal business development and law marketing objectives, guided and assisted by my input.
I see my role as helping lawyers to generate fresh ideas and options, consider alternatives, and provide recommendations that enable them to make their own decisions. Acting as an advisor, I help law firm clients discuss and agree on actions, and help them decide – for themselves – on specific solutions that will see the process through to a successful conclusion.
I am passionate about my work, and derive personal satisfaction from helping lawyers achieve profitable and measurable legal business development and law marketing results.
Working with client teams, I help to:
- Encourage new thinking.
- Contribute to the generation of new and creative ideas.
- Generate legal business development and law marketing action options.
- Explore pros, cons, risks, and costs of our options.
- Suggest various forms of information collection and analysis.
- Decide on a sensible and sustainable course of action.
- Develop and execute the work plan to achieve measurable results.
So, while I function as an advisor, I also do the work.

I strive to foster an open and enjoyable relationship with my clients. In return, I ask clients to tell me promptly if they require changes in scope, or if there are any concerns or questions regarding my services, as this provides an opportunity for us to clarify our objectives. I practice total client confidentiality, therefore client business is kept strictly confidential during and after completion of an engagement.
My Practice
Law firms, legal teams, and individual lawyers have historically represented 100% of my professional consulting time. I am based in Toronto, and while most of my clients have head offices in Toronto, many have locations throughout Canada, the US, and the UK.
